About This Site

Finding someone released in Colorado starts with identifying the system that held the person. A county sheriff records a local jail release, the Colorado Department of Corrections tracks people under state prison and parole jurisdiction, and federal or immigration custody uses separate national tools. Colorado Released Inmates is a privately operated reference site that brings those paths together and routes county questions to 64 locality sites.

Why This Site Exists

Colorado makes many forms of criminal justice information available, but a person who has left custody may no longer appear on a current jail roster. The correct follow-up source depends on who released that person. A county sheriff or jail owns the official action for a local release after bond, dismissal, time served, or a county sentence. The Colorado Department of Corrections, commonly called CDOC, operates the statewide offender search for people who entered state corrections jurisdiction, including some people released from prison to parole. Federal Bureau of Prisons and immigration releases belong to separate federal systems.

This site serves as the statewide organizing point. It directs visitors to Colorado's official offender-search and release-verification channels, while county matters are routed through locality sites built around the responsible sheriff, jail, and court. A missing roster entry alone does not prove release because a transfer, detainer, or move to another custodian may also remove a name.

What You Can Find

The material is arranged by custody level and by the question a visitor needs to answer.

  • Statewide release-search help on the home page, plus the Projected Release Date, VINELink Check, and Parole & Probation pages.
  • An alphabetized County Directory that connects every Colorado county to its own released-inmates resource.
  • A Facility Directory covering researched county jails, state prisons, federal sites, immigration custody, and other listed detention settings.
  • Practical help using the CDOC offender search and identifying the county office that owns a local release record.

Limits of This Service

Colorado Released Inmates is independent. It is not part of CDOC, the Colorado State Board of Parole, Colorado Judicial, VINE, any sheriff or jail, the Bureau of Prisons, ICE, or another government agency. The site cannot create or amend an official record and cannot act for any person in custody.

  • We cannot release, hold, move, or transfer a person.
  • We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds for someone.
  • We cannot offer legal advice or decide what a record means in a legal matter.

Only the agency that owns a record can confirm current custody, charges, release, transfer, supervision, or sentence status.

Search Partners

Some pages contain search tools supplied by outside providers. Those providers control their own results, privacy practices, and prices. If a visitor follows one of these tools to a paid signup, Colorado Released Inmates may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep access to this site free, but it does not give us control over a partner's service, billing, or record coverage.
